As part of our learning on Cats (domestic and wild) we have been looking at artwork by Henri Rousseau, in particular 'Tiger in a Tropical Storm'.
I set out a provocation with the picture we had talked about, pastels, pencil and sketch book.
I feel sketch book are really valuable and wanted to introduce them at a young age. Its a great way of compiling their ideas which they can refer back to and develop. Also it is something which is personal to them.
They soon came and reproduced the artwork in their own styles. Experimenting with media and colours, looking closely at detail in the piece by Rousseau.
