Number recognition and counting provocation.
This is great for number recognition and counting games. All you need is
some pebbles and Sharpies. I found our pebbles when we have been to the beach,
they don't have to all look the same. Pebbles can also be bought from garden
centres. Simply write numbers on one side with the equivalent amount of dots on
the reverse. Leave out a basket of buttons or similar - pasta, small stones or
conkers also work well. This provocation could also lead onto other areas such
as addition or subtraction.
Of course they won't always just count the correct amount out and may just want to play with the buttons!!
