Why not team up a fairy tale with playdough? A great way to introduce a story.
Pretty much all books can be teamed up with play dough and the
benefits are fantastic. Its too irresistible to not join in
yourself! This is a great way to introduce or support a book by
inspiring children with ginger scented soft play dough, cutters, tools and
loose parts. Play dough is so easy to make - the recipe I
use requires no cooking.
Why not talk about the characters whilst your are
creating, getting them to describe the Gingerbread man, by his appearance and
personality.
Gingerbread Playdough
You need
·
450g plain flour
·
230g salt
·
8 tsp cream of tartar
·
5 tbsp cooking oil
·
440ml boiling water
·
1 tsp ground cinnamon
·
1 tsp ground nutmeg
·
1 tsp ground ginger
All you do is:
Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar, oil
and spices together in a large bowl. Stir in the water. It may seem sticky to
begin with but wait a couple of minutes and it will become gorgeous and fluffy!
It smells good enough to eat! Keep in a sealed bag or box and it will last for
ages!
